Broker's Comments

Charming classic 1937 Gentleman's Cruiser, built by H Gibbs and Son of Chertsey.

The engine in full working order and perfect for those trips upriver to Richmond and beyond or downriver out to sea. She has crossed the channel in the past.

Engine is a Chrysler flat 6 from 1947 - rumour has it she suffered damage at Dunkirk and this was a replacement engine from an American truck - she can't have the official Dunkirk plate as her beam with registration number was damaged too, but previous owners believe that was called Gavandra in the 30s, then change to Orient Star in the 50s, then to her current name in the 70s. All wood has been treated and coated with epoxy resin for long-term hard wearing. The underwater hull was professionally fibreglassed in the early 2000s.

Fully fitted out as a liveaboard: accommodation comprises a generous double berth in the prow; galley kitchen with wooden worktop, sink, fridge, electric oven/grill and ceramic hob; bathroom with shower and electric loo; wheel house with wheel, seating and storage; living room with wood burning stove, sofa, inbuilt shelves and storage and French windows opening onto a small outdoor loveseat. The interior is mainly teak and mahogany.

She is on a transferable residential mooring in beautiful Greenland Marina, very peaceful with a thriving and entertaining community of rare bird species, but directly opposite Canary Wharf. Transport: 2min walk to Greenland Pier for the Thames Clippers (3 min journey to Canary Wharf), 10min walk to Surrey Quays Tube for the East London Line, 15min walk to Canada Water for the Jubilee Line. 15 min easy cycle to London Bridge.

Marina fees are £310 per month and include water rates and council tax. Electricity is billed separately and is around £20 per month in summer and £35 in winter, and the marina can pump out the loo holding tank every six weeks or so at a cost of £6.
