Regatta Season S E Asia (Part 2)

March 15th - 23rd : Philippine Hobie Cat Challenge
Now on its 14th year, this years event covers approximately 210 nautical miles and features 5 new destinations through the Visayas Islands. The race commences in Malapascua, on to Cebu and concludes in Guimaras and Iloilo. There are Charter boats available and all yachts are welcome to join the rally, which accompanies the Challenge race. International flights are available to and from Cebu (for the start) and from IIoilo (after the finish) The event is organized by the Philippine Inter-island Sailing Foundation, which is a non-profit organization composed of locals and sailors who want to promote the sport and establish the Philippines firmly on the Asian Sailing Calendar. Starts April : Sail Malaysia - Passage to the East Rally - Langkawi to Sabah
The second of 2 rallies organized in Malaysia each year. The objective of this event is to promote the less sailed destinations in East Malaysia. After regrouping at Rebak Marina, Langkawi, Pangkor Island Marina, Perak and Admiral Marina, Port Dickson in late April, the yachts will make their way to Danga Bay Marina, Johor Bahru for the start in early May. Selected stops on the East coast of the peninsula are in store for the rally fleet - Sebana Cove, Tioman, Rompin, Kapas Island and Kuala Terengganu before a passage across the South China Sea to Kuching in Sarawak. Then onwards to Miri to join the Borneo International Yachting Challenge and finally ending up in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. A host of parties, receptions and exciting activities are planned along the way. Further stops at Kudat and Sandakan after KK will complete the Sabah experience. April 16th Start : Rolex China Sea Race
Organised by the Royal Hong Kong and the Subic Bay Yacht Clubs, this 51st Rolex China Sea Race is a biennial, Offshore Category 1 race of approximately 565nm from Hong Kong to Subic Bay. In 2008 this Asian blue-water classic became part of Rolex's portfolio of internationally sponsored offshore races. The race is open to racing and cruising yachts with valid IRC Certificates. April 22nd - 26th : 7th Commodore's Cup
The “Saturday Afternoon Gentlemen’s Sailing Club” pays tribute to the Commodores and Sailing Ambassadors who help promote yacht racing in the Philippines,with the announcement that 4 days of inshore racing under the banner of the “Commodores Cup” which will be held in Subic Bay after the completion of the Rolex China Sea Race. The Regatta will be held in cooperation with Watercraft Ventures Corp, Lighthouse Marina Resort and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, and conducted under the auspices of the Philippine Sailing Association. Subic Bay being a superb natural harbor protected from the China Sea, is an ideal spot for the finish of the China Sea Race. At Subic Bay Freeport there is a Marina with full facilities for hauling out yachts if required. Plenty of hotels and restaurants, and the local Filipinos’ legendary hospitality provide a warm welcome for visiting skippers and crews. May 1st - 5th : 10th Top of The Gulf Regatta / Coronation Cup
Held durind the first week of May, at Ocean Marina Yacht Club, Jomtien beach, near Pattaya in the Gulf of Thailand, This elite multi class competition is celebrating its 10th anniversary. It incorporates the one design Platu 25 Coronation Cup and is timed to commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej. A wide range of offshore yachts compete alongside dinghies and beach cats, plus the Thai Optimist Champion will be crowned at the event. Bill Gasson, chairman of the organizing committee, added that charter boats are available and that “It’s hard to find a better location, with good wind and a great sailing area just outside a marina". May 24th - 31st : 13th Samui Regatta

2013/14 AY GP Championship
The Koh Samui Regatta is where the “Asian Yachting Skipper” and “Yacht of the Year” are awarded their Trophy, put on the traditional navy blue blazer and enjoy the champagne celebrations, at a gala dinner and prize giving evening, held on the law in front of the Centara Grand Beach Resort on Chewang Beach, and marks the end of the season.
