Boatshed Newport, International Yacht Brokers toured the Artillery Company of Newport this morning. Inside the museum was an amazing display of military uniforms and artefacts from around the world.

Built in 1836, the building houses military memorabilia from over 100 countries. I was pleased to see my heritage on display (see photo) with the uniforms of Scotland.

You will find history from pre-colonial times to the present ongoing strife in the Middle East. There are bronze cannons found on the main drill floor that were cast in Paul Revere’s foundry near Boston, MA. I was surprised to find uniforms worn by such notable military figures as Anwar Sadat. There are uniforms here that cannot be found anywhere else in the world!

I highly recommend this Artillery Company tour to all who visit or live in Newport, RI. I would like to thank Robert S. Edenbach, Colonel Commanding, for his hospitality during my tour with him. Well done sir! Boatshed Newport is always pleased to honor the United States military who sacrifice so much for all of us!
