Just after the end of World War II the White Fish Authority were keen to re-start the cockle fishing industry. They designed and commissioned the building of 100 decked fishing boats with small aft wheel house, capable of collecting up to 6 tons of cockles. These vessels were made of mahogany planking on heavy steamed oak timbers by shipwrights at the Dauntless Boat Building Company at Canvey Island in Essex.
Some nasty things occurred in 1980, like the assassination of John Lennon and Johnny Logan got to number 1 with “What`s another year”! On the upside though, GPS was introduced and this Westerly Griffon started out in life and it really is someones lucky day as it has come up for sale! Please form an orderly queue to view this fine specimen. She is very, very well kept & cared for and has an extensive inventory and is easy to sail single handed, as she is equipped with “ Sailtainer in boom reefing system” and all lines are led aft. The vessel is epoxy coated below the waterline, has removable davits, an Aerogen wind generator & heating. I could go on but with space at a premium, check out the specification data & photos listed here and also bear in mind the upgrading and attention that the present owner has undertaken. It is Westerly Griffon lottery ticket time! Take a look at her, it could be you! To arrange a viewing contact Andy Wood broker at Boatshed North Wales.

Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a Westerly Fulmar which was widely regarded as one of the most successful designs (though not in numbers as only about 400 were built) as the performance and handling was, and still is today, regarded as just ‘near perfect’. To quote the WOA “One does not really have to sail a Fulmar, one just lays a hand on the tiller and lets the boat take care of everything else, which she does without appreciable effort.” This example is presented for sale very clean and tidy and benefits from a recently (2011) refurbished engine. The headlinings have been replaced already and a nice touch is the Eberspacer heating. She is currently ashore and ‘ready to go’. Appointments to view can be booked in advance 6-days a week directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth broker.

RIBEX has been renamed The Powerboat and RIB Show , the event has been staged for the last 13 years in Weymouth, Southampton and, until this year, Cowes, under the name of RIBEX. As well as being held at prestigious Portsmouth venue, Gunwharf Quays, for the first time over the weekend of 12th and 13th May, the exhibition featured powerboats of every description, making it the only show representing the entire powerboat market under 45ft. It was also completely free for visitors, making it much more accessible and the only free outdoor, on the water boat show in the UK.
The new venue was a great benefit to visitors, who were able to take advantage of Gunwharf Quays’ many shops, restaurant and entertainment venues while they were at the show. Among the attractions there was a wide selection of RIBs, powerboats and associated products for sale, and the opportunity to trial boats on the open water and free RIB rides.
Michael Delbridge and his young son Justin (Broker in training) of www.boatshedhamble.com were on hand to check on any new boats and to talk to clients old and new.

This years nautical season in Croatia has already started. Weather has improved significantly, temperatures are higher and even first swimmers have been spotted. This is visible in many ways, from various boatshows, busy marinas, nautical magazines and news from nautical industry. Some of major Croatian boatshows like Zagreb boat show and Croatia boat show in Split are already behind us, and others will be opened soon like Adriatic Boat Show Sibenik and Fiumanka Sailing Show in Rijeka. These events are very good opportunity for us to meet various colleagues and discuss business trends and possibilities for cooperation.
Despite the economic recession which is still present most of them showing moderate signs of optimism.
Charter companies, Sailing schools and Marina owners are of course more satisfied than boatbuilders, boat dealers and brokers but all of them share hope that better times are coming.
The ideally laid out islands, that are separated by no more than 10 nautical miles and about 1500 bays and ports, makes the Croatian Adriatic equally as ideal for sailing under full sail as it is for cruising on motor boats. The 56 modern marinas with around 16,000 wet berths and 5,500 dry berths are available all year round. In the majority of these marinas it is possible to hire a yacht, organise professional sailing courses or find a suitable used boat available for sale. We are expecting various new attractive listings in the near future so please check our pages. www.boatshedcroatia.com Contact us if you have an enquiry.
The Grimsby Dock Tower has dominated the town's skyline since it was built in 1852
A torchbearer will abseil down Grimsby's Dock Tower with the Olympic flame when it comes to the Humber region next year, it has been revealed.
During four days in June 2012 the torch relay will make 11 stops in the area and two overnight stays. The procession will visit the East Riding on 18 and 19 June and northern Lincolnshire on 26 and 27 June.
A torchbearer will run past the Humber Bridge, rather than over it, so the moment can be best
captured on camera.
The Dock Tower was built in 1852 and was based on the Palazzo Pubblico in Sienna, Italy.
The abseil will take place on 27 June.
The event will be observed by Boatshed Lincolnshire as we are based within sight of the tower which has been a seafarers landmark for many years.
Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a rare and very well presented Westerly Oceanquest. This yacht is just superb and I would urge early viewings if you are looking for a really comfortable, clean, tidy yacht. When I met the owner onboard it was clear he was reluctant to sell her but what was equally apparent was the care and attention he has lavished on her. Many imajor items have been attended to including new standing rigging and new upholstery throughout. A new main with in boom reefing and electric winches makes sailing short handed a breeze. I’m looking forward to showing you onboard and appointments can be arranged in advance 6-days a week directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth broker.
It’s good fun looking for Moody yachts for sale, racing yachts for sale, Jeanneau boats for sale and Etaps for sale in Essex. However, your dream boat may not come with a berth, and even if it does you may still like to look around for a different marina closer to home.
Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale Westerly Konsort. The Konsort was in production from 1979 to 1992 and a total of 704 were built making it the second most successful Westerly after the Centaur. The rig is fairly small by modem standards which can be a bit of a hindrance in light airs, but allows one to carry full sail at the top end of force 4. She is a stiff boat, and given a decent wind can see off a good few cruiser/racers. This example has been used regularly but is now reluctantly for sale. She is in need of some updating but these are really great boats even by modern standards so it’ll be worth the effort. Appointments to view can be arranged in advance and are generally available 6-days a week. Please book directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth broker.
Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a fine Westerly Griffon. Some 329 Griffons were built and it is certainly more roomier than its predecessor, the Centaur. This example is presented very well - clean and tidy throughout and clearly well cared for. Headlinings and keel stubs have been sorted out already and the sails are quite recent too. These are really great yachts and I recommend early viewing of this example. Appointments to view can be arranged in advance and are generally available 6-days a week. Please book directly with Paul Singer your Boatshed Dartmouth broker.
